Our Pond Hockey Family

Over the last 11 years, the Pabst Colorado Pond Hockey tournament has grown leaps and bounds. Starting from humble roots, the tournament’s first year only had two rinks and 30 teams. Since then, the tournament has grown to over 16 rinks and 225 teams with a wait list of over 30 teams. There are several factors that go into making this tournament a success; like having a frozen lake to play on, good weather, great tunes, etc. But none of those factors are more important than the one thing that makes this tournament complete… THAT’S YOU!

We couldn’t do this tournament without you, our loyal Pabst Pond Hockey family. We are totally aware of how large and far our Pond Hockey family extends. We have teams who have returned year after year, making this an annual trip and holiday weekend.

Here’s a look back at some of our favorite moments. This is a blast from the past and a glimpse through our eyes of why we were voted BEST DAMN POND HOCKEY TOURNAMENT IN THE USA!

The Best Damn Scenic Views!

You cant beat views like this! Situated in the town of Silverthorne, Colorado is our Pabst Pond Hockey home, North Pond Park. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, this pond has hosted thousands of skaters who travel far and wide to play on the iconic beauty. North Pond Park has truly been an amazing setting for our tournament. Whether you play games at the crack of dawn, or the on-set of dusk, it's impossible not to play under magical lighting. The crisp February chill, is sharp to the lungs, yet offers a refreshing escape from congested city air. If you want to get in shape, try playing hockey at 9,000 feet.

The Best Damn Competition Around!

Did we mention that we play hockey at our tournament? If you didn't know, now you do... and the competition is unreal! We draw in players and teams from across the United States who compete in six different divisions.

The Open, Pabst, and Brown Bottle League are reserved for players with experience ranging from ex-NHL to Men's D or E league equivalent levels. You'll find many skill levels at a laid back, but competitively fun atmosphere. Teams in each division will look to take possession of the perennial Pabst Champion, Pabst League, and Brown Bottle Trophy respectably!

Our Women's Division is open to women 18 years and older. Many skill levels persist in this division, from Women's league teams to collegiate clubs and last minute throw-together teams. The best women on the ice will take home the women's perennial Pabst Champion Trophy! Oh, and their names will be engraved forever!

The 45+ Steel Can League is reserved for old timers who haven't lost their love for the game of hockey. In this division, skater experience varies quite a bit. There are players who haven't skated in 30 years, and some who skate weekly. It has some competitive touches, but is also great for teams looking for a casual and fun tournament. This is the only league old enough to have ever drank Pabst out of a steel can. Hence- the perennial Steel Can Trophy is up for the taking in this division!

The Broken Bottle Division is open to all players of any abilities who just want to play and have fun. This division is for teams that don't want to be in a competitive atmosphere with the stress of playing for a championship. Teams are guaranteed five games but no playoffs. These games are strictly for fun!

The Best Damn Hockey Party!

You shouldn't expect anything less from a hockey tournament named after Pabst Blue Ribbon. Our tournament is a party and the players love it! We do everything we can to make this an exciting atmosphere for everyone involved. Players and tournament spectators can enjoy refreshing PBR specials, live music, and mini-drinking competitions throughout the day. Oh yeah, and that's not to mention the Après Ice Party on Saturday night, featuring national known talent Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad and our Hockey Hair Contest. If you have a crazy head of hair and a PBR in your hand, you'll fit in just fine at the hockey party!

The Best Damn Pond Hockey Family!

You are our Pond Hockey family, and we appreciate you more than you know! This tournament wouldn't be a success without the continued support of the amazing people and teams who return year after year for this weekend of hockey! We are so excited for February, and look forward to seeing you at this year's Pabst Colorado Pond Hockey Tournament! Be sure to tell your friends and family about our tournament. We are always looking to add new members to our humble abode!
